Cambridge is conveniently located 45 minutes north-east of London by express train (leaving King's Cross Station). The closest airport is London Stansted (30min by train); Heathrow and Gatwick airports are both at approx. 2.5 hour journey by train or coach.
The AWG will be hosted at Trinity College (including meals and accommodation), within walking distance of Cambridge city centre. For information on the climate, the history of the City and University, local orientation, and other details please refer to the Wikipedia page.
Trinity College is 30min walking distance and 10-15min taxi from either of the two Cambridge railway stations (the main station being perhaps more convenient). The taxi ride costs under 10 pounds.
Upon arrival, if you are heading to your accommodation, please go to the Burrell's Field porters lodge on Grange road, Cambridge UK (see "Burrell's Field Porters Lodge, Trinity College, Cambridge, United Kingdom" on google maps). At the porters lodge, they will give you keys and directions to your room. If you arrive late at night, the porters may be on patrol and receptions may be temporarily closed. In that (unlikely) event, please call +44 (0)1223 338400 and notify them of your arrival, and they shall radio the porters to come meet you as soon as possible. The porters will also give you directions to the college main site (5 min walking distance) where the event is held.
If you are heading to the workshop venue, it is quicker if you enter Trinity College from Great gate on Trinity street, CB2 1TQ (these details are sufficient for google maps and to direct a taxi driver; for more information, please refer to the Trinity College website). The workshop will be held in the Old Combination Room (OCR), and you can to be directed to it at the Porters Lodge.
Coffee breaks and meals are served in close proximity to the Old Combination Room, where the talks and discussions are held.
